ATTENTION DRIVERS:
Last year i spoke i was gonna make some changes to tech for this year and wanted to let u know of such changes.
If u saw or thought u saw something passed tech outside of rules or (grey areas) last year dont assume it will pass tech this year!!!- we had some flaws i was unhappy with that iv spent the year trying to implement a plan to correct, my intentions are to provide a very strict inspection and made some MAJOR changes in crew and set-up, consider this a friendly warning!
tech- MUST BE IN LINE BY 12:00 OR INSPECTION FEE OF $50 WILL BE CHARGED
When u come to tech this year DRIVER ONLY will be lined up according to class, all classes will be a open hood instpection please have them unbolted and ready, we will be having 4 separate tech lines, 4 separate crews that will tech one class only, i have cordinated new crews and instructed them to be extremely strict!!!! (again- warning!) if u have too many infractions or abvious cheating we will just send to trailor with no chance to fix, its winter time and we wont tollerate wasting our time! u will get one chance to correctly change if minor so know exactly what changes need to be made!
After passing tech u will transfer forward to a pre-stage area which u will be allowed a pit guy to come over and help tie hood down, then will be instructed driver only to move car to staging area that only drivers will be allowed in to park and leave. last year we had some issues in help that holding area was not propperly secured wich has been corrected aswell, will be roped off this year with more security keeping people away.
80s chain class we will be strict on external engine appearence, (MUST APPEAR STOCK) if u have aftermarket valve covers, pulleys, dist., intake manifold, fuel pump (unless electric), starter, ign coil, carberator, water-pump, radiator, u WILL have problems in tech, change them now while u can do it in warmth! rest of rules speak for them-selves, must be stock unless specified!
80s chain common questions answered{ no rim centers allowed- must be stock un-reinforced rims no braced rear ends- must be stock, stock axles no swaping spindles, a-arms, steering boxes to old iron stuff- must remain 80s. no solid suspentions- has to bounce. no long yolks or any form of collapsable driveshafts yes- core support mount bolt will be checked for length
FULLSIZE WELD{ If u are running a trans brace it cannot directly bolt or attach to crossmember- u must run a rubber tear-away mount to secure along with a chain or wire, or if u dont run a mount u will only be allowed to chain or wire to cross-member to free float on top of crossmember, they cannot slide into crossmember or act as a brace to strengthen car, just protect trans.

Came across a typo in the rules for FULLSIZE- WELD on welding firewall seams. When i copy and pasted a section on dps to new rules it did not get edited on final copy.
firewall seams CAN be welded or bolted even with distributor protector within guidlines of body welding, bolting- during doing this it must be a factory seam only, u cannot fold metal over to create a seam. sorry for any confusion.

80s chain- if your tires are mounted on a aftermarket steel rim that is not reinforced, and dont have centers in them they will be allowed to run.

Just to clear up a few questions iv been recieving.
FULLSIZE WELD trans (BRACE) cannot attach to cross-member, if securing off brace itself, must use a rubber mount if bolting or chain without mount so brace can float off cross-member. if u have a factory alum. tailshaft with or without brace on trans u may bolt and chain solid if bolting off factory tailshaft if u are bolting off a aftermarket steel tailshaft with or without brace u will only be allowed one 5/8 bolt to attach off tailshaft only plus chain or wire to secure. brace is only to protect trans, not to reinforce car.
FRAME SHAPING RULE 2. You can weld frame seam from the front of the A-arms forward top side only! You are allowed 16" of additional frame seam welding (full size cars only-) from 2" behind the firewall/dash mounts forward to back of A-arm per frame rail, this will be measured and crush box seam welds will account for this. The frame seam weld can't be larger than 1/2" wide or it will be cut!! The uni-body is considered the frame on Mopars and Suicide Lincolns, which it means No bolting, or welding the seam.
NO FRAME SHAPING OR MANIPULATING OF FRAMES THEY MUST REMAIN STOCK !!!! minimal shaping allowed at humps 10 inches max. each direction of center.
this is in bold print everyone, If u have shaped or contoured your frame other than rear humps u should call to see if and how to fix this will be checked well.
For any midsize cars not registered u will be allowed to make motor and trans mounts solid to help prevent axle loss as long as it dont strengthen cradle, struts and tie-rods must remain stock other than welding strut solid, all drivers registered have been notified other than a couple im still trying to get ahold of.
fullsize weld- full 80s chain- full still open spots in fwd class, we are at 16 (over half full), and trucks we are at 7, we will continue reduced entry fee of $60 until feb. 2nd, after that will double entry fee like last year to $120.00
Thanks!
