BROWN COUNTY FREE FAIR DEMOLITION DERBY RULES AND REGULATIONS
GENERAL AND DRIVER ENTRY INFORMATION:
The Brown County Fair Association reserves the right to approve or reject any and all applications
Any two wheel drive hard top automobile is allowed, station wagons included. No hearses, ambulance or Imperials.
EVERYONE including PIT CREW entering the demolition derby is subject to the following rules and regulations.
All drivers must fill out an application and entry form and submit entry fee before taking part in an event.
Entry fee of $ 25.00 must accompany registration form. The fee will admit driver and car. One support vehicle allowed per entry. Fee per pit crew member is $ 15.00 per . All pit crew must sign in under driver at entry gate. All entries should be submitted by July 21st to ensure your name and sponsor in the program. Any entries received after the deadline WILL NOT have their name and sponsors in the program. Any entries received after Aug. 1st will need to submit a $ 40.00 entry fee. Drivers must be at least 16. If under 18 you must have a parents signature and waiver signed at gate.

Participants may enter gates at 3:00 pm for Wednesday’s Derby
May enter at 2:00 pm for Saturday’s Derby
You MUST be entered NO LATER THAN 6:00 PM
All Demo vehicles MUST BE hauled to and from the Fair Grounds by order of the New Ulm Police Dept. Trunk and hood must remain open for inspection. After inspection you will be allowed ample time to secure hood and trunk.
PROGRAM :
Each heat will consist of both Men & Women. With the exceptions of the "Ladie's of the 80's heat
Free For All will be open to all classes with the exception of Trucks and Subcompact cars.
In the event of a tie , first and second place money will be added together and split evenly, with a flip of a coin for the trophy.
ALL placing cars can be inspected at the end of each event for rule infractions. IF INFRACTION OCCURS, MONEY AND TROPHIES WILL BE FORFEITED. There will be NO exceptions ! We reserve the right to totally dismantle any accompanying vehicle.
There MUST be a minimum of 6 vehicles to run ANY class. If there are not at least 6 pre registered vehicles in any one class that class will not be ran and removed from our schedule.
DISQUALIFICATIONS :
No alcoholic beverages are permitted in pit area before or during the Derby. Possession at inspection will mean automatic disqualification for 2 years starting the following year, forfeiture of entry fees and prize money. Anyone who is part of your pit crew and signed up under you as the driver, must follow all of these rules or it can lead to the driver being disqualified. Make sure anyone signing under you as the driver is aware of all rules.
If you are disqualified for any reason except for safety reasons, you will lose your place and money and the ability to qualify for the free for all event.
DISQUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING :
Any car completely driving out of the Demo area.
NO ONE is allowed on the track or beyond after the first green flag is thrown. Violation will mean disqualification of associated car for the entire night including monies and trophies ALREADY won.
Any car intentionally hitting a driver’s door.
NO Sandbagging, Possum. You will be warned and / or disqualified
Judges may disqualify reckless drivers at their discretion for everyone’s safety
Track Officials word is final . NO EXCEPTIONS !
If a driver does not hit another car within 90 seconds time limit driver will be told to break their flag, taking whatever place you were in when flag was broken. Any vehicle with a flag is eligible to either hit or be hit.
Rollovers will be rolled back over for safety reasons. Driver will not be allowed to get back into car and continue. A rollover is considered the same as being called out on time.. and only removed from track if it is a safety issue. Same rules applies to being hung up on the wall. Car will be removed for safety issues but Driver will not be able to continue. Flags will be broken.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS AND CAR REGULATIONS :
All drivers MUST wear a strapped safety helmet and seatbelt. A full faced helmet is highly recommended !
All glass must be removed. All upholstery except driver’s seat and dashboard must be removed
We suggest all driver’s wear a mouth guard
A screen must cover drivers side of windshield. ¼ or ½ inch mesh, NO CHICKEN WIRE !!!!
All vehicles MUST have a safety bar from doorpost to doorpost. End plates must be bolted or welded to doorpost (just below top hinge works best with 5/8” bolt or larger. May also be welded)
gas tank protectors are allowed, must be attached to the seat bar and no more than 24" wide behind the gas tank. Must have space between the tank protector and the rear package
Dash bar is MANDATORY if dash has been removed.
Dashbar and seatbar may be connected
Roll Loop is optional
Steel driver’s door window nets are strongly recommended
All driver’s doors will be painted white below window frame, driver’s door only !! Lighter colored cars must have a fluorescent red or orange border no less than 4” wide.
All cutting and torching equipment must be securely fastened down on a cart and be thoroughly inspected.
"DOLLY RULE " We highly recommend you tape your steering wheel to prevent a major injury !
INTERIOR:
All dirt and loose glass must be removed
All station wagon deck floors must be removed
A drivers door cushion is REQUIRED
Must have steel bar from dash to roof in center of Windshield area to prevent hood from coming into driver’s compartment
Roll Loop is optional
EXTERIOR:
Chrome strips must be removed from car. Remaining parts of the body, including fenders, must be left on and not protruding in any way.
Fender wells may NOT be enlarged before heat
No trailer hitches or reinforcements will be allowed
Shocks and leaf springs cannot be altered and must be in original condition
NO WELDING OF FRAMES OR SUSPENSIONS. No welding of any type except what is explained in these rules
No advertising allowed on drivers and passenger doors. This space is for numbers only ! ANY car displaying profane or suggestive wording or decorations will be eliminated.
Must have a 15x15 upright sign with number on both sides on roof of car
Bumpers may be replaced with full size bumpers cut to fit. NO REINFORCING OF BUMPERS !
Stock bumpers may be welded on with no added materials. No home made bumpers
HOOD AND UNDER HOOD:
Hoods must be in stock position
A minimum of one 6” hole must be cut in hood for Fire Dept. access. Header holes are OK
Header limit is 15” above stock hood position. NO EXCEPTIONS
Radiator must be in stock position
Transmission linkage may be altered
Motor and transmission may be chained or welded
No distributor protectors
No sliding drive shafts
External tranny coolers will be allowed. Must be securely mounted on floor. Lines must be rated for highh pressure DO NOT use fuel line with hose clamps!
DOORS WIRES AND CHAINS:
Two or four door hard top vehicles will be allowed three wire locations from the roof to the door. Sedans will allowed one wire per door. Six wraps per location
Driver’s door seams may be welded solid. ONLY DRIVER’S DOOR !!
Driver’s door safety bar is optional. If using safety bar it must be either outside the car or between door skins. No thicker than 1” flat steel stock. Must be bolted with 5/8” bolt or larger
All other doors may be chained or wired in 2 locations per vertical seam
HOOD, TRUNK AND TAILGATES:
Must be chained or wired. NO WELDING
6 fastening points per hood (2 of these may also go to the bumper) 6 per trunk lid
Four bumper ties allowed per bumper. In place prior to inspection !
No bolts for fastening, wire or chain only !!
GAS TANK:
A maximum of 5 gallons of gas will be allowed.
Gas tank must be inside car in back seat and must be securely tied down.
Splash cover is highly recommended
Gas line must be removed
No non metal containers. Boat tanks are preferred for your safety
If you have an electric fuel pump please notify inspector during inspection
No fire extinguishers allowed in vehicles but you must have one in your piy area
TIRES:
Anything goes ,but they must be filled with air !!!If there is anything found in the tires other than air you will be disqualified ! Stem protectors are optional.
BATTERY:
Limit two. Must be securely fastened and covered on the front passenger side door.

Modified Rules additions: (for modified 80's and Old Iron )
Body mounts and bolts may be changed. Must maintain factory spacing. Spacers may not be welded to frame.You may use up to ¾” threaded rod or bolts with up to 4” x 4” washers to secure the body to the frame.
Factory frame seams may be welded. A-arms forward, top side only FOR OLD IRON
80'S AND NEWER Will be allowed to weld crush boxes forward
You may run threaded rod or bolts up to 1” diameter in up to four spots in hood. Only front two may be welded or bolted to the frame, but must go through factory core support hole.
Door frames may be skip welded 5 on 5 off 1/8" x 2" wide strap. External seams only.
External tranny coolers will be allowed. Must be securely mounted on floor. Lines must be rated for high pressure. DO NOT use fuel line with hose clamps !
You may tuck, notch or pre bend trunks. NO WEDGES !!!!
You will be allowed six extra spots to wire or bolt. Two strands of wire or up to 3/8” bolts. Sheet metal to Sheet metal only !!!!
You may clamp leaf springs in three extra spots per side. Total 6 clamps per side left and right. Rear ends may be chained or wired to frame in two spots. Bolts MAY NOT pass through the frame creating a pin affect A arms may be chained or bolted for height. NOT WELDED !!!!
SUBCOMPACTS :
All regular demo rules apply
Any car with a maximum wheel base of 104" rear wheel drive, or 108" front wheel drive .
4 or 6 cyl.
Any driver wishing to drive in the free for all event must have driven in a prior heat !!!
All drivers wishing to be included in the program must have your information to Cindy NO LATER than July 21st. Anything received after this date will not be in the program. NO EXCEPTIONS !!!
If we have too many cars for a heat and need to split a class into two heats, pre registered winner will receive trophy. There will not be any trophies ordered after the Demo due to the lack of pre registrations. If you have pre registered and have a trophy coming to you , you will receive one. Anyone not pre registered will not.
