CAR MODIFICATION & SAFTEY FOR WELD/COMPACT CLASS
Any mass-produced 2 Wheel drive car. NO HEARSE, IMPERIALS OR IMPERIAL FRAMES!
You must have a 15” by 15” upright sign with your car number on both sides on the roof of your car.
Body/Doors- All doors on cars can be welded solid with up to 3 inch wide strap by 1/8 inch thick strap, doors can be welded solid. Top of doors can be folded down and welded together with no added metal. All body seams can be welded 6 on 6 off.
Trunks- Trunk lids can be welded solid with 3” x 1/8” thick strap. Trunk can also be bolted in 6 spots 4 to the frame 2 sheet metal to sheet metal. Pin size can be up to 1” diameter.
Hoods- May be bolted in 8 spots 4 bolts can go to the frame 4 bolts sheet metal to sheet metal. Pin size can be up to 1” diameter.
Bumpers- Can use bumper of choice weld them on good we don’t like picking them up. You can take bumpers apart and weld any material you see fit on the inside of the bumper and weld chrome back on everything must be done on the inside of the bumper nothing on the outside.
Cage- Dash bar and behind seat bar and door bars allowed 2 inch min diameter or square cannot be attached to frame. May have only 2 bars max behind seat in a crisscross pattern. Must be securely fastened or you will be told to remove. Dash bar may connect to the firewall in 2 spots 3” by 3/8” max flat stock and cannot be placed within the dp. If you have a dp dash bar must be 6 inch away from firewall. If you have a tranny brace it must be mounted to cross member with factory tranny mount or free floating and dash bar must be 2inches away from tranny tunnel. Halo bar no farther back then 15 inches from center post on 4 door cars or 8 inch on 2 door cars. Can be welded to frame and bolted to roof. Halo bar can be attached to the door bars. You can have 4 down bars from the door bars only located within the front doors and straight down to rocker area If you have a halo bar you can only have two down bars. You can run a gas tank protector that must mount from the behind the seat bar 30inch wide and be 2inch from any sheet metal no down bars.
Frames- Frame seams can be welded from firewall forward top and bottom. Frames must remain equipped with original equipment, no taking parts from other frames to build your frames the way you want. K-Frame can be welded solid, may take out pucks and replace with 1” bolts. No plating/stuffing of frame will be allowed, if found you will not run Frame must appear stock from factory. Leave factory holes in frame for scope purposes. If frame is rusted you may fix it with ¼” plate 1 inch past the rust hole (DO NOT CUT THE RUST SPOT OUT). You may weld a plate 1” past a bend. All plates must be welded to the frame and CANNOT be used as or act like a gusset. You may fix body with sheet metal 2 inch past rust.
Fenders- May be cut and bolted back together to allow wheels to clear sheet metal fenders may also be pre-bent, inner fender wells may be trimmed.
Body Mounts- Must have at least 1 inch spacers at fire wall and may remove the back, you may add 3 extra body bolts per side which can also go to frame with a max of 6”x 6” washer’s. Bolts must be inside the frame as factory. ALL bolts can be a max of 1 inch
Rear ends- May be modified as long as they are standard 4 or 5 lug axles. (No cutting studs off of rear ends to make them a 4 or 5 lug)
Suspension- Rear suspension must remain stock, double coils are o.k. on coil cars. Leaf spring cars have up to 9 leafs per side (compacts may have 7 per side) and maybe clamped in 6 spots per side. Must be factory springs out of a car and CANNOT be home made. Rear end maybe chained in 2 spots per side of car. Coil springs may be wired in. Upper and lower trailing arms maybe reinforced, but they still have to function in a factory manor. Front suspension may be welded with 2- 2” straps DO NOT strengthen frame or bolted or spring spacers for height. Tie rods maybe reinforced, but must function in a factory manor
Transmission- Transmission shift lever may be located on the floor. Transmission coolers may be located inside car; however it must be bolted to the floor and shielded from the driver. Must be a metal container and lines must be covered with some type of hose. No roof mounts.
Battery- Must be fastened to the floor in the front passenger area and covered. Two batteries are permitted.
Gas tanks- Must be securely fastened to the floor behind the driver’s seat and must be covered; anyone leaking fuel will be flagged out. NO PLASTIC GAS TANKS!
Tires- Car tires and light truck tires only. Mud, snow, or regular tread. No studded tires or Implement tires. Double it, foam it, whatever you see fit we don’t like flats.
Motor- Motor and tranny of choice, in stock location. Engine cradles allowed. Maybe welded or chained, the motor tie down CANNOT exceed 8” in front of or behind the heads. Distributor protectors must be 6” from the dash. On motors with the distributor on the front of motor the protector may not exceed past the front of or behind the motor.
Radiator/Core- Core support may have a 2 by 2 ¼” angle iron on the top of core support from fender to fender. Radiator barrels are o.k. BUT must be factory size, CANNOT touch the frame in any way, CANNOT be welded to the angle iron at all, Bolted in 4 spots to core support or 4-2” welds to core support to hold it in place.
If you cut a hole in the firewall it must be covered with something such as a tire tube or floor mat no cloth materials.
No changes to be made after inspection and before your preliminary heat.
Cars will be re inspected after demo.
IF IT DOES NOT SAY YOU CAN DO IT IN THE RULES DON’T DO IT ASK FIRST!
COMPACT RULES
1. Cars must be 105” wheelbase or less, and can not have V-8 engines. No DP protectors.
2. All other rules for the full-size class apply to the compact class also.
RULES FOR CHAIN STOCK CLASS
Any mass-produced 2 wheel drive car. Cars must be 1980 or newer.
Doors: Must be chained/wired only no welding/bolting, Bracing in back of driver is allowed from door post to door post and a dash bar is allowed from post to post FOR DRIVERS PROTECTION ONLY and welding of driver’s door is permitted.
Body Mounts: Mounts and Bolts must remain stock.
Hoods: Must be chained/wired. You are also allowed to use 4 hood pins up to 1 inch diameter the front two pins by the radiator may be welded to the radiator support and may be welded down to the frame. The two other bolts MUST BE SHEET METAL TO SHEET METAL ONLY!!! Other than the front two pins/washers, all other Pins/Washers can not be welded in, in any way and can not be attached to the frame in anyway washer size 5x5x ¼. You can not use angle iron on your hood.
Trunks: Trunks/tailgates must be chained/wire ONLY no welding/bolting.
Bumpers: can be welded on but can not strengthen frame when doing so, Must be stock make to that car

There is no limit on chain or wire or where it runs to for this class but the chain or wire can also not be welded in in anyway
