Nordmeier Derby Rules
General Rules
1. If it does not say you can do it, it doesn’t mean you can! Call First!
2. Official’s decisions are final!
3. Drivers must be at least 16 years of age and in possession of a valid driver’s license and a signed and notarized parental consent form for any driver 16-17 years of age.
4. All vehicles may have a roof sign, minimum 15”x 15”, maximum 24”x 24”, contrasting colors. These may not be positioned in such a way to strengthen the car.
5. No imperials, any year, imperial sub frames, ambulances, hearses, carryalls or limousines allowed.
6. All bodies must be mounted on stock OEM frames for that year, make and model of that car.
7. Drivers must wear helmet, seat belt, and eye protection at all times.
8. All vehicles must have a fire extinguisher in pit area.
9. All drivers MUST attend the drivers meeting. Vehicle must be checked in half hour before drivers meeting. DON’T BE LATE! Poor sportsman ship or misconduct by drivers or crew members will result in all disqualification.
10. There is NO ALCOHOL IN THE PITS. NO Tolerance. If you or any of your crew is caught with alcohol you will be disqualified.
11. No one under the age of 16 is allowed in the pit. NO ACCEPTIONS!
Competition Rules
1. Drivers must remain in the vehicle with helmet, seat belt, and eye protection until notified by an official that it is safe to exit the vehicle.
2. Driver’s door hits are illegal. If the hit is deemed by the official to be careless or intentional, you will be disqualified, NO questions asked! If you use your driver’s door as a defense, we will not enforce this rule. If you use the door defense repeatedly you will be disqualified.
3. No hot rodding in the pits, keep it at an idle.
4. Any open door will cause disqualification.
5. Sandbagging is not to be tolerated and will be strictly enforced!
6. Questions or controversies will be discussed at the drivers meeting.
7. All cars are subject to a post race inspection before any prize money is awarded. For feature only! Can only be protested by a feature driver. $150.00 cash in hand by the protestor. If the car is found to be illegal that driver will be disqualified. If the car is found to be legal the protest money will be awarded to the protested driver!
8. One fire and one roll over is allowed, second fire or roll over you will be disqualified.
9. You will have 60 seconds to make a hit, period.
10. When there are 4 vehicles left MOVING in the field, you CANNOT hit the same vehicle more than two consecutive times until the field is down to 2 moving vehicles. You will get one warning and the second you will be disqualified.
General Preparation
1. All glass, plastic and pot metal must be removed.
2. Nothing may remain in the bottoms of the trunk or doors.
3. All outer hardware must be removed – door handles, mirrors, chrome, moldings, screws, fiberglass, etc.
4. No added weight to any car.
5. Rear seats in all cars and all decking in station wagons must be removed.
6. Front seat must be securely bolted to the floor; however, these bolts may NOT go thru the frame!
7. You must have a functioning seat belt.
8. All flammable materials must be removed from the inside of the vehicle other than safety padding and the driver’s seat.
New Iron and Old Iron
1. 1979 new Mopars, 1977 newer GM and Fords allowed. It must be a metric car. Call with questions?
2. TEAM DERBY… All cars MUST be new iron cars and they must be FRESH CARS! NO pre-ran cars allowed. ABSOLUTLY NO EXCEPTIONS!
Engines
1. Any motor may be used in any car but must be mounted within 5” of original motor.
2. Engine mounts may be modified to hold engine in place but may not strength car.
3. All engine mounts and braces can go to cross member only.
4. You are allowed 1 chain per side off the front of the motor to be chained to the frame only. You may use max chain of 3/8”, 12” long max. You are allowed to weld 1 link to the frame. One pass with the welder and max of 1/2” wide bead. Do not add any extra metal to it or you will be asked to cut it all off. If you choose not to weld it, then you can run the chain to an existing bolt. Do NOT make your own hole for this and you cannot pin or sleeve it in anyway.
5. 2003 newer Crown Vic’s must run original aluminum cradle, no steel or homemade cradles allowed. Engine bracing must go to alum cradle only, cannot be attached to cradle frame mounts.
6.No engine oil coolers allowed.
7. Must have an air cleaner over the carburetor at all times.
8. No water pump guards are allowed.
9. Distributer protectors are allowed must be attached to engine or transmission only.
10. Backside no wider than 12” and must be at least 6” from dash bar at the start of the event with nothing between them except the firewall. It may not be welded, bolted or connected to body, hood, or frame. Forward supports must be inside normally positioned headers and must be behind water pump.
11. Engine braces cannot be connected to the cage or dash bars in any way.
Transmissions
1. Transmissions must be of passenger car origin.
2. Transmission coolers are allowed, but must be secured in a way to prevent injury. Coolers must be secured in passenger compartment of car and may not be attached to frame in any way.
3. Transmission cross members can only be welded 6” along frame, straight across from transmission original mount.
4. Slider drive shafts are allowed.
5. Transmission braces are allowed but they can only connect to the transmission! They cannot be attached to the tranny cross member, tranny mount, or engine cross member!
Rear Ends
1. Rear ends must be of passenger car origin factory 5 lug max.
2. May use any type of rear ends. (Ford, Mopar, GM or Hybrid.)
3. No truck, 8 lugs or floater rear ends.
4. May tilt the rear ends by lengthening or shortening the trailing arms. Trailing arms must be of passenger car origin and must operate. Trailing arms maybe reinforced but must be OEM design.
5. Rear end braces are allowed, but they may not serve any purpose other than to strengthen the rear end housing. They may not extend from the rear end further than 6”.
6. You may convert a Watts-link to a standard 4 link system in the following way. Use the upper and lower brackets off an older ford. After market brackets are allowed but no thicker than ¼” and may be attached with max of 3- ½” bolts on each side or 4- 1” welds per bracket. Do not position the brackets to strengthen the front down legs of the rear hump. The brackets must mount in the stock location and be the stock size. Or you can cut out the old pan and weld a new one with a max of 2” overlap. Weld the new pan to the old pan tabs and not to the frame rails. Call if you have any questions?
Body Bolts
1. All body bolts may be replaced with up to 1” bolts, maximum length 10”.
2. You must have at least ¾” space between body and frame, any spacers may be used but cannot be welded. Maximum spacer size 3” diameter.
3. Maximum washer size is 4”x4”x 1/4” and must be free floating. The washers on the bottom of frame must be inside the frame, and must not cover the body mount holes in anyway.
4. Body mount holes CANNOT be covered for any reason! All plates must be free floating, Hoods and trunk plates also must be free floating.
Radiators, Radiator Supports
1. Radiator barrels are not allowed.
2. Radiator must be in stock position in front of the motor.
3. Radiator supports must remain in stock position.
4. You can run a radiator protector that is ¼” thick and no more than 2” bigger than the factory radiator opening. Flat stock only, no angle iron or tubing will be allowed. Solid plates can be bolted in only! Max 6 bolts! If you are using wire mesh or expanded metal you may weld them in.
5. Radiator must contain water only, or environmentally friendly Antifreeze. (No green antifreeze.)
Fuel, Fuel Delivery Systems
1. Marine tank or metal fuel tank with 10 gallons maximum allowed. No plastic tanks allowed.
2. Original gas tanks must be removed from car.
3. Cannot use original gas tank!
4. You must have the gas tank securely mounted behind the driver’s seat and it must be covered.
5. Fuel lines must run inside the car, not under the car along frame.
6. Electric fuel pumps are allowed. They must be covered and have an on/off switch near the steering wheel and clearly marked in large letters.
7. Gas tank protectors are allowed. They may not be more than 24” wide at the back, 10” high and cannot be attached to rear seat pan/divider. It cannot be attached to door bars. It can be attached to seat bar and angle back from there. 3” tubing maximum.
Tires & Brakes
1. No studded or 100% steel wheels.
2. Valve stem protectors are allowed. Wheel weights must be removed.
3. Any tire allowed, double stuffing allowed, and can solid fill them if you wish.
4. Split rims must be welded at least 4 places around rim 4” bead.
5. Brake systems must be operational.
Batteries
1. A maximum of 2, 12 volt batteries maybe used.
2. They must be inside the car in front of the passenger seat. Securely mounted and covered. They may not be attached to the frame in any way.
Frames
1. No rust repair will be allowed. Call with questions?
2. Frame seams may be welded on top only. From in front of the front A-Arm mount forward only. May only use welder, no extra metal. ½” wide bead max.
3. No other frame welding is allowed. No plating, stuffing, heat treating or foam filling of frames is allowed. DO NOT paint or undercoat your frame, you will not be inspected! Your vehicle will stay loaded on trailer.
4. You may cold tilt frames, if you cut it to bend it you cannot weld it back up.
5. Rear frame rails may not be shortened and no dowel pinning of the frame is allowed.
6. You may run a chain, cable, or #9 wire from rear rail to rear rail behind the rear humps. 3/8” chain maximum. You may bolt through the frame for this but no pinning or welding of washers to frame.
7. You may chain or wire your axle to frame rail. You may not use any strapping of any kind for this. 3/8” chain maximum. You may not weld the chain links together to create a bar effect.
8. Uni body cars may use 1 bolt per side for this.
9. You may not add any extra bolts or #9 wire or anything through the frame unless the rules state you can.
10. GM metric cars are allowed hump plates in the rear. You MUST follow the contour of the frame. 18” long x ¼” plates max. One side of the frame only and must be centered on the hump. Judges decision is final.
11. Mopars are allowed to secure K member in the following ways.
A. Remove pucks and bolt tight to frame, stock size bolts only.
B. Or you will be allowed to leave the pucks in and weld 4- 4x4x ¼” plates (2 plates per side) to weld the k member to the frame rails. Only use the welder, a ½” wide bead max.
Bumpers, Bumper Brackets
1. Bumpers are interchangeable; any automotive bumper maybe used front or rear. No homemade bumpers are allowed.
2. You may weld the bumper seams, the shocks, and weld the brackets to the frame. You may not weld anything more than 8” from back of bumper, unless factory front shocks mount back further. Call with any questions.
3. If you choose not to use brackets you may weld your bumper directly to frame with no extra metal.
4. You may weld the outer chrome skin to the bumper backing.
5. You may not weld the bumper to the body at anytime.
6. Bumpers maybe cut to keep them out of the tires but no sharp points.
7. Rear bumper must be a minimum of 14” from the bottom of the bumper off the ground.
8. Bumpers maybe installed upside down, but bumper height maximum is 28” to the bottom of bumper.
9. You may stuff your bumper if you want, but bumper must still look stock with stock angles.
10. You may weld vent holes shut. ¼” maximum thickness.
11. Compression bumpers shocks may be drained and slid back and welded.
12. You may run 4 loops of #9 wire from radiator support to bumper in 2 locations outside of radiator.
13. You may weld one 4”x12”x1/4” strap per frame rail from bumper to frame to help keep bumper on this must remain one piece, and may be welded on top bottom or side of frame, but it cannot be angled to corner of bumper to form a kicker. 12” is maximum length; only 8” can be welded to frame.
Suspension, Springs, Steering
1. No coil to leaf conversions.
2. Leaf springs must be in factory position.
3. You may change coil springs or use spring expanders to raise ride height. You may also double up coil springs.
4. You may not remove the shocks and put pipe or all thread in their place.
5. You may reinforce your tie rods. Must start with an OEM tie rod. No pipe tie rods.
6. You may not add anything behind the spindle that may act as ball joint protectors!
7. Steering wheel to steering gear box may be modified. After market or homemade steering columns are allowed.
8. On 03+ fords, steering swaps are not allowed. Must run original rack and pinion unless you are running in the old iron class then you are allowed to swap.
9. There is ABSOLUTLT NO WELDING ALLOWED on the steering gear boxes. If you do, you will cut it!
10. You may not clamp brackets around the frame to hold the box on.
11. You may change A-arm and spindles, but they must be an OEM car A-arm and spindle.
12. On 03+ you can bolt a 3”x14”x ½” plate to the frame to weld your ears to for the A-arm mount. The plate may go 1” in front of and 1” behind the two factory bolts that bolt factory cradle in. You may not weld the plate to the frame at anytime or in anyway. Nothing can connect to the plate that may reinforce the frame. You may use 2- ½” max bolts to bolt the bracket to the frame. You may not pin or sleeve these in any way.
13. For the upper spring pocket on a 03+, you can use two 5/8” max bolts to bolt on a slightly modified OEM spring pocket from another car. These bolts may not be pinned or sleeved in anyway.
14. All judge’s decisions are final. If we feel your brackets are reinforcing the frame in anyway, we will ask you to fix it. If you choose not to fix it, then your car will stay on the trailer.
15. Sway bars must be in stock location and not welded to the frame in anyway. It may be bolted tight to the A-arm though.
16. A-arm rubber stops may be removed and A-arms maybe bolted or chained down. 3/8” chain max. You are allowed to weld 4 links to the frame rail but nothing can be welded to the A-arm.
17. Back end cannot be solid. Suspension must move.
Leaf Springs
1. 9 leaf maximum, 2 ½” wide maximum.
2. No flat stacks allowed. Packs must have an arch.
3. Stagger must be 1” between leafs in front and behind rear end.
4. 5 clamps allowed per side and cannot be attached to frame.
5. Clamp material ¼” thick 2” wide, 2 bolts per clamp.
6. No welding on spring pack.
7. No duct taping of spring pack prior to inspection.
Cages and Door bars
1. You may use channel iron or tubing up to 6” for door bars, they may not go through or be attached to the fire wall and must end 6” in front of the rear wheel house.
2. Seat bar must be no further than 6” behind the seat and must be a minimum of 2” and no larger than 6”. You are allowed one angled bar off of your seat bar to the floor sheet metal only. It cannot go to or conceal a body mount.
3. You may add 4 vertical down bars welded to your door bars, and welded to sheet metal only without any extra plating. Maximum 3”x3” tubing will be allowed for these. These bars may not attach to or conceal a body mount.
4. No kickers, angled or otherwise.
5. All horizontal cage bars must be at least 12” off the floor of the car, measured at the body bolt elevation.
6. All cage components must be in the interior of the car, not inside the door structure with the exception of the driver’s door. This door bar may be inside the door to allow more room for driver’s safety.
7. Dash bars can be a max of 6” tubing and may not be connected to the firewall in any way.
Halo or Rollover Bars
1. You may add a halo bar to cage components listed above. 6” diameter maximum.
2. Halo bars must be in a direct vertical line and no farther than 6” behind the rear of the seat.
3. Halo bar must be in the interior of the car. The top of the halo bar may go over the top of the roof and be welded or bolted to roof sheet metal in 2 spots.
4. You may weld the halo bar to floor sheet metal but this counts as 2 of your vertical down bars.
Trunk Lids
1. You may weld 2 pieces of 1” all thread vertically to rear frame rails and run them through the trunk lid. You may use a 6”x6”x1/4” washers that are free floating on trunk lid bolts. These must be welded vertically along the frame, or bolted through the frame. No pig tails will be allowed.
2. And one of the two following ways:
a. And you are allowed to weld 2-4”x4” plates on the side trunk seams (4 total plates). None on the front or back.
b. Or you may use 2 pieces of 3”x3”x4” angle iron with 1” bolt to hold them together in 4 spots.
3. MUST have a 12” hole in the bottom of the trunk for inspection.
4. Tailgates on wagons may not be welded shut. You can bolt it shut with ¾” maximum all thread rod in 2 places. However you want, but cannot be bolted to frame.
5. Relocation of the speaker deck is NOT allowed. It must remain in the stock location.
6. Your trunk lid may be V’ed in the center. You are allowed to smash it down but you must have at least a 12” gap from your trunk lid to the floor pan and on the speaker deck you must have at least a 10” gap between the speaker deck and the floor.
7. Tucking your trunk lid is allowed.
8. If you do take out your rear speaker deck you are not allowed a rear window bar.
Hoods
1. Hoods may be bolted, chained or wired shut only.
2. You may use 6 bolts to hold the hood 1” maximum with 6”x6”x1/4” washers that are free floating.
3. You may run 4 of the bolts to the frame, but they must be A-arm forward with a maximum of 4” welded to the frame vertically alongside frame, no pigtails. The other 2 must be sheet metal to sheet metal 8” maximum length on these 2.
4. Or you may use 2 pieces of 3”x3”x4” angle iron and use a 1” bolt maximum to hold them together in 6 places.
5. You may install up to 12- 3/8” bolts or self tapping screws per hood cutout maximum of 3 cuts out. Maximum washer size is 1” diameter. Cut outs may be for header clearance, air cleaner clearance or radiator filling opening. You must have at least 2 cutouts 10” diameter in hood for fire access.
6. No welding of hood cutouts is allowed.
7. Hoods must be open at inspection time.
Doors
1. Doors may be chained, wired or welded shut. 2 chains or wire loops per seam or welded 5 on 5 off with 2” wide by ¼” straps. Straps may not go to frame. Chains and wire may go around frame.
2. You may smash the top of the inner and outer door seams together and weld. No extra metal.
3. Driver’s door may have window netting for driver’s safety. No other windows may have netting.
4. Driver’s door plate recommended maximum 24” wide welded across driver’s not to exceed 3” past front and rear seams.
Windows
1. You must have a minimum of 1 bar or max of 2 bars, 3” max, chain or wire running from roof to cowl in windshield area for Driver’s protection. May not attach to the cage in any way.
2. If you are running a distributer protector these bars must be at least 6” outside of the protector.
3. You may use #9 wire only in 2 spots total in each window opening. This wire may go to or around the frame, but not past C pillar on wagons, or in rear window. Wire must remain in the field of that window. No crisscrossing the interior of the car.
4. Washers for #9 wire may be welded to roof sheet metal; maximum washer size is 2”.
5. You are allowed one bar in the rear window, 3” Max. Not allowed on wagons or sedagons. They may only be connected to the speaker deck and 6” onto the roof. May not attach to the cage in any way.
Other
1. No chain binders will be allowed
2. Body creasing, enhancing of existing body lines and additional body lines will be allowed, but they may not be welded or bolted together.
3. No doubling of body panels allowed, no added metal allowed.
4. You may weld 1, 4”x1/4” strap from door to roof on hard top cars per side at the door seam.
5. Floor sheet metal maybe patched where components will be mounted or for Driver’s protection, sheet metal only. No other patching is allowed unless it’s a safety issue, call first. You must leave the rusty floors in place, do not cut them out.
6. No body seam welding allowed except for the exterior of doors and window openings.
7. Holes may be cut in floor and firewall to accommodate the shifter, fuel lines , and transmission lines,
8. You may have up to 8 3/8” bolts in each wheel opening; you may cut or roll wheel wells and fenders for tire clearance.
9. All sheet metal repairs must be done with sheet metal only.
10. You may not add any extra bolts or screws to any seam or frame unless the rules state you can. You will be asked to take them out if you add extra bolts or screws.
11. Skid plates are allowed. They must be separate plates for the engine and transmission. NO full length skid plates. NO bolting or welding the skid plate to the frame or crossmember.
Pre Ran Cars
1. Cars that have been pushed down or bent back or the frame is ripped can be plated.
2. Plating can only be ¼” thick plates. You can have 5-6” plates or 6-5” plates. They must be staggered and must have a gap of at least 2” between plates. A total of 30” per frame rail will be allowed. You’re allowed a max of 6 plates.
3. Frame repairs CANNOT cover any body mount holes in any way!
4. Re-stubbing is allowed but must be stubbed A-arms forward or behind the firewall (using the pre ran plating Rules)
5. Re-stubbing of frames must be manufacturer to manufacturer frame. For instance: GM to GM, Ford to Ford for that make of that car.
6. There will be no slicing or trimming of illegal plates or reinforcement, if it doesn’t belong, it has to be removed completely.
7. Any car that will not comply with these rules and regulations will stay on the trailer.
Additional Old Iron Rules
1. Same Rules apply for Old Iron as New Iron with these exceptions.
2. Frame seams can be welded top and bottom front to back with no extra metal ½” bead only.
3. 03 and newer Crown Vic’s can replace aluminum cradle and weld in a steel cradle. Cradle may extend 1” in front of and 1” behind the factory bolts that hold the factory cradle in. Use the welder only with one pass. ½” wide bead max with no extra metal. Allowed 12” of bead per side.
4. Spindles must be five studs.
5. New Iron cars that want to run old iron can convert to leaf spring rear end, same specifications as New Iron.
6. Steering modifications are allowed on 03 and newer crown Vics but you must follow the specs from number 8.
7. On pre 1973 Y frame Chryslers you may weld the Y shut top and bottom with 3/16” maximum plates. It cannot over lap frame more than 1” and must have a 2” inspection hole.
8. On 03+ fords, the steering box bolts can go all the way through the frame. You may NOT pin or sleeve these in anyway. Or you can bolt the box on through one side of the frame by cutting a bigger whole in the outer side of the frame and putting a bolt through the inside. You may NOT weld the holes shut after you have bolted it on. Any questions please call.

Chain Up Class
1. This is a pure stock no weld class wheel base minimum of 113”.
2. Allowed 1979 newer Mopars, No 1979 Cordoba’s, 77 newer GM and Ford metric cars only. No 77 Monty Carlos.
3. No chain binders allowed.
4. You can run any tire.
5. No engine crossbreeding.
6. No slider driveshafts.
7. No distributer or water pump protectors.
8. No engine cradles or pulley protectors are allowed.
9. Body bolts must remain original, cannot replace them or add any extras.
10. Transmission coolers are allowed. Must be mounted securely on passenger side floor and not connect to the frame in any way.
11. Rear ends must be stock, no rear end braces allowed.
12. Front and rear suspension must remain stock.
13. You may replace rear coil springs or you may use a maximum of 2 spring expanders per spring.
14. Bumpers may not be welded on, chained or bolted only. May be cut for tire clearance. No sharp points will be allowed.
15. You may not repair any rusted or bent frames or body parts.
16. You may repair floor pans that are rusted out with sheet metal only for driver’s safety or for mounting gas tank, battery box or transmission cooler, that’s it. You must leave the rusty floor pan in place, do not cut them out.
17. No bolting, chaining, or reinforcing control arms
18. If dash is removed, you must install a dash bar. 6” max size with 6x6x1/4” max end plates. Dash bar cannot be connected to the fire wall in any way!
19. You must weld in or bolt in a seat bar, 6” max, directly behind the seat with 12x12x1/4 max end plates.
20. You may run door bars, 6” max, that must be 6” from the fire wall and in front of the rear wheel house. No down bars allowed. No exceptions!
21. You may weld or bolt a driver’s door plate on 24” wide max cannot be more than 3” past door seams. May not be welded past either seam, only weld on the door.
22. You may move the shifter to floor.
23. You may run hotwire switches for ignition and starter.
24. No electric fuel pumps unless factory OEM equipment, and must shut off with ignition switch.
25. Battery must be moved to pass front seat area and covered.
26. Original gas tank must be dropped; gas tank must be mounted behind seat and covered.
27. Cannot use original gas tank!
28. Each door may have a maximum of 2 chains (3/8” chain max) or 9 wire (2 loops, 4 strands) in 2 spots on the door. Only 1 may go around frame.
29. Trunks may have a maximum of 2 chains (3/8” max) and may not go around frame or through fenders.
30. No pre-bending of sheet metal, you may tuck the trunks. If you do, 50% must remain in stock location.
31. Wheel openings may be trimmed for tire clearance.
32. No wheel well or fender bolts allowed.
33. Hood may have a maximum of 4 chains 3/8” maximum 2” front and 2” back around cowl.
34. No crisscrossing of chains front or rear.
35. Valve stem protectors allowed. Wheel weights must be removed.
36. Brake system must be functional.
37. HOODS MUST BE OPEN AT INSPECTION TIME!
38. Hoods must have at least 2-10” holes for fire access.
39. Roof signs can be no larger than 12” high by 24” long
40. 4 leaf spring clamps per spring only.
41. No #9 wire inside car.
MIGHTY MINI’S and Midsize class
1. One 16 vehicle event - if we have more than 16, class will split -Payoff stays the same.

3. Examples of Mighty Mini’s - small vans, Ford Ranger, S-10 pickups and Blazers, Bronco II, Dodge Dakota –
4. Wheelbase specifications for midsize are 103” to 114” center of front axle to center of rear axle. Front wheel drive only.
5. Any hardtop cars, including station wagons, are allowed except ambulances, hearses and carryalls.
Rules
1. All 4-wheel drive vehicles must remove one drive shaft!
2. Exterior molding, license plates and glass, including head and taillights must be removed before entering the fairgrounds. The rear seat must be removed. All dirt, debris and other loose pieces must be swept out.
3. Gas tank must be strapped in back seat or front of cargo box and covered. Tank can be metal and cannot hold more than five gallons of fuel.
4. The original tank must be removed or dropped. No electric fuel pumps unless standard equipment. CANNOT use original tank.
5. Cooling system must be original equipment and must contain water only.
6. Trans Coolers are allowed. Must be securely mounted on passenger side floor. May not connect to frame in any way.
7. Any mighty mini bumper allowed for mighty mini’. Any midsize bumper allowed for midsize cars. Bumper may be welded to frame but with no extra reinforcement. No trailer hitches or other reinforcement.
8. All body parts, including fenders, must be in place. Trunks, body and frame may not be welded for reinforcement. Pre-bending of sheet metal is allowed.
9. External door skins, tailgate, and hatchback can be welded 5 on 5 off for mini’s. For midsize hatchbacks and tailgates maybe chained in 2 spots (3/8 chain max). Or you can weld 2 pieces of 3x3x1/4” angle iron with 1” bolts to hold them together in 2 places. No welding on inside doors.
10. Vehicle must have standard suspension. No welding of front or rear suspension.
11. You are allowed 2, 12 volt batteries.
12. Vehicle hood must be held down using two single strands of chain (3/8” max), or #9 wire, maximum of 4 strands (2 loops). 2 thru cowl and hood also allowed for safety. Or maximum 4 bolts, 1” threaded rod, max 6” washer. Washer must be free floating. Two 6” diameter holes must be cut in hood (fire access).
13. For mini’s, minimum 2” and maximum 6” tubing MUST be placed in car running from post to post behind driver’s seat with maximum 12” square end plates permanently attached to cars body. If dashboard is removed, a safety bar with minimum 2” and maximum 6” tubing and 7” square mounting plates must be installed in its place. A roll bar manufactured from minimum 2” and max of 6” tubing can be installed for driver protection. Roll bar must but to the back of the driver’s seat or safety bar, no kickers. Roll bar may go over roof. You may run door bars, 6” max. Door bars may not go through fire wall and must end at the back of the cab or 6” in front of the rear wheel house. No down bars will be allowed. NO bar can be attached to the firewall.
14. For midsize, minimum 2” and maximum 6” tubing MUST be placed in car running from post to post behind driver’s seat with maximum 12” square end plates permanently attached to cars body. If dashboard is removed, a safety bar with minimum 2” and maximum 6” tubing and 7” square mounting plates must be installed in its place. A roll bar manufactured from minimum 2” and max of 6” tubing can be installed for driver protection. Roll bar must but to the back of the driver’s seat or safety bar, no kickers. 15. Each driver must have a fully functional five-pound ABC fire extinguisher on site in tow vehicle.
16. Vehicle number must be on both front doors, rear lid and roof; no advertising or other signage in these areas. No upright signs higher than 12” or longer than 24” on car roof.
17. Driver’s door may be reinforced with maximum of 1” thick plating extending no more than 3” past door opening seams, and no more than 24” wide.
18. For mini’s body bolts cannot be larger than 3/4” in diameter with 3”x3”x1/4” plate in original positions. Plates must be free floating.
19. For midsize, body bolts must be stock.
20. Valve stem protectors are allowed.
21. Midsize cars no implement or skidder tires allowed.
Compact Car Class
Front wheel drive and Rear Wheel drive- Separate Classes
Rules
1. Maximum hub center to hub center wheelbase measurement of 104.5”.
2. Any hardtop cars, including station wagons, AMC pacers are allowed except ambulances, hearses and carryalls. You may swap engines. Engines must be six cylinders or less.
3. Exterior molding, license plates and glass, including head and tail lights must be removed before entering the fairgrounds. The rear seat must be removed. All dirt, debris and other loose pieces must be swept out.
4. Gas tank must be strapped in back seat and covered; tank can be metal and cannot hold more than five gallons of fuel. The original tank must be removed or dropped. No electric fuel pumps unless standard equipment. Cannot use original gas tank.
5. Gas tank protectors are allowed. May not be attached to door bars. May be attached to seat bar. May not be more than 24” wide at the back and not more than 10” tall. It cannot be attached to rear seat pan-divider.
6. Cooling system must be original equipment and must contain water only. Trans Coolers Allowed.
7. All compact car bumpers allowed. Bumper may be welded to frame but with only one strap per frame rail. 4”x6”x1/4” to keep bumper attached. No trailer hitches or other reinforcement.

If dashboard is removed, a safety bar with minimum 2” and maximum 3” tubing and 6” square mounting plates must be installed in its place. A roll bar manufactured from minimum 2” and maximum of 3” tubing can be installed for driver protection. Roll bar must abut to the back of the driver’s seat or safety bar, no kickers. Passenger side safety bar is allowed. Door bars may not go past fire wall and must end 6” in front of rear wheel house. Allowed 4 vertical down bars attached to sheet metal only, 3x3” max tubing. May not go to or conceal a body mount. Roll bar may go over roof.

19. No implement or skidder tires allowed.
Truck Rules
1. ½ and ¾ ton truck and suburbans will be allowed in this class.
2. You are allowed to weld 4 extra motor mounts to the frame. One off each corner of the motor. 3”wide x ¼” max brace. You can have a 3x3x ¼” max plate welded to the frame. There must be a 2” gap between these braces and your cage braces. They may not be more than 6” in front of or 6” behind the block of the engine.
3. Engine cross breeding is allowed
4. 4-wheel drives must remove front drive shaft.
5. There will be no plating, boxing doubling or adding any cross members to the frame unless the rules say you can.
6. Gas tanks must be metal and mounted in the front of the box by the cab and covered. CANNOT use original gas tank!
7. Doors and Tail gate may be welded shut inside and out with 4x1/4” plating. If you don’t weld them you must chain or 9 wire them shut in at least 3 places and maximum of 6 places.
8. You can bolt the box to the cab in 6 places with 4”x4”x1/4” thick washers. You can also weld the cab to the box along with the bolts using 4”x1/4” strapping.
9. Safety is a big concern in this class so make the inside of your cab safe. A dash bar, and behind the seat bar and door bars are MANDATORY! Maximum 6” tubing or c- channel.
10. You may have 4 down bars connecting your cage to the frame. They can be a maximum 6”. They cannot extend past the fire wall or behind the back of the cab.
11. No bars are allowed to be attached to the fire wall in any way!
12. You may also run a halo bar directly behind the cab. Maximum 6” diameter. It may be bolted to the cab in 6 spots with 1” bolt max. It can be bolted to the bed floor and may not be welded to the frame. Bolts may connect to the frame with a 1” max bolt.
13. Kickers from your halo cannot be more than 12” from halo bar and must be bolted only to bed of truck not to the frame and must be 12” in from the sides of the box!
14. You may have a door plate on the outside of the driver’s side door that may not exceed 24”x1” and cannot extend more than 3” past door seams.
15. You may add 6 extra box bolts from the frame to the box. That are 1”max bolt or U bolts or chain. Washers for box bolts can be 6”x6”x1/4” max and must be free floating. U-bolts will count as one bolt. Both bolts of the U-bolt must go through the same 6x6x1/4” plate.
16. Rear leaf spring can have no more than 10 leafs in it with a 1” stagger in front and behind the axel.
17. Front leaf springs can have a max of 8 leafs with a 1” stagger.
18. 5 leaf spring clamps will be allowed per leaf pack. Clamps can be 3”x1/4” and wide enough to get around the springs with 2, 3/8 bolts per clamp. No welding of leaf springs.
19. Split rims must be welded at least 4 places with a 4” bead.
20. No studded or steel tires.
21. You will be allowed to have 6 hood bolts welded vertically to the frame with no pig tails that are 1” max with 6”x6”x1/4” free floating washers. OR you can use 2 pieces of angle iron that is 3”x3”x4” bolted together with a maximum 1” bolt in 6 places on the hood and fenders.
22. Cooling systems must remain in the stock location. NO radi barrels.
23. You cannot have any kickers from the core support to the frame.
24. You may run a radiator protector. It must be made out of flat stock steel only 1/4” max. No angle iron or tubing will be allowed. May only exceed 2” past radiator opening. Flat stock may only bolted in. Max 6 bolt. IF you use wire mesh or expanded metal you may weld them in.
25. Electric fuel pumps are allowed and must clearly be marked (on and off) on the dash bar.
26. Transmission coolers are allowed.
27. Oil coolers are not allowed.
28. Any car bumper can be run on the front or the back of your truck. It can be stuffed but must still look factory from the outside. All chrome can be welded down also.
29. No homemade bumpers can be run on the front of the truck. A piece of C-channel can be used for the rear bumper if you would like but It cannot extend more than 8” outside the rear frame rails and cannot come to a point. Maximum 6” wide. You may not run the C-channel and a bumper, one or the other.
30. NO extra cross member or extra metal allowed going from frame rail to frame rail except behind the front bumper. 4” angle iron or C-channel maybe used to mount the bumper to. May not extend more than 8” outside the frame rails.
31. You are only allowed 6-6”x6”x1/4” plates per frame rail for frame repairs on your truck. You may box the frame but must have a 2” gap between plates. You are allowed a max of 6 plates per frame rail. Maximum of 36” of total frame plating on each frame rail.
32. Any plating done other than rules allow will be cut. NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!
33. Front bumper mounts cannot extend more than 6” from rear of bumper to the frame rail. Bumper brackets cannot extend more than 6” into the frame. You may add 2 extra plates per frame rail to keep the bumper on. Max size 8”x4”x1/4”. Cannot weld more than 6” to the frame.
34. Distributor protectors must be 6” from the dash bar at the start of the event. No wider than 12”. It CANNOT be attached to the frame or cage bars.
35. Shackle brackets may be welded to the frame. Welder only, no extra metal!
