General Fairground Rules
You must be 16 years of age to run and be in the pits, anyone under the age of 18 will need a miner release form signed by a parent/guardian and notarized signature.
All drivers must have a photo ID to be paid (No Exceptions).
Any harassment of judges, fair board members, crashmasters promotions staff and competitors or crews will not be tolerated. You may be escorted out by police and or/barred for 2 years. Promoters discretion.
No inappropriate behavior or language will not be tolerated in the pits or on the track. Any inappropriate language or symbols on your vehicle or clothing and you will be asked to remove it or leave. This is a family show.
Absolutely NO ALCOHOL in the pits. There will be plenty of law enforcement walking around and checking coolers.
The fair board and crashmasters promotions are not responsible for cars left after the derby. any car or truck left on fairgrounds after 8:00 am the following day will become property of crashmasters promotions.
Crashmasters promotions will do the inspecting. If you think somebody is cheating let us know.
Pre-Inspection Rules
No all black cars, no re-stubbing frames, all bodies must be on stock OEM frames for make and model, no painting, undercoating, buffing or oiling of frames, these cars will not be inspected or allowed to compete. 2003 Fords must have stock front under carriage.
All vehicles must have a roof sign 15"x 15" min. 24"x 24" max. In center of roof. No cardboard.
Drivers door must be painted white.
Only driver allowed in inspection area, bring helmet and eye protection to inspection area.
Hood must be open for inspection, bring hold downs, you will be lined up after inspection.
Competition Rules
When you are flagged out, you must stay in your car with helmets, eye protection and seat belts on until the heat is over or when an official tells you to get out.
Driver door hits are illegal, if the hit is deemed by the official to be careless or intentional, you will be disqualified. If you use it in defense repeatedly, you will be disqualified.
Any open door open door will be cause for disqualification.
You are allowed one fire. The second time and you will be disqualified
Sandbagging is not tolerated and will be strictly enforced. Locking up brakes prior to a hit for any other reason then a driver door hit will be cause for disqualification, the fans pay to see a show so put one on for them.
Team driving will not be tolerated. No pin to win. There will be a winner.
General Derby Rules All Classes
No Imperials 73 and older, Suicide lincolns, Hearses, Ambulances, Rancheros, El Caminos, Sedagans, 4 door Trucks and Fiberglass top Trucks. Suburbans are allowed.
Preparation: All outer hardware must be removed including door handles, mirrors, headlights, marker lights, turn signals, chrome, molding screws and fiberglass. All burnable materials must be removed. Bumper covers may be taken off. All glass must be removed and swept out of car.
Wagons all inside panels and rear seats must be removed.
Midsize and Mini class may take dash out and must start and shift in stock location.
Hoods: Must cut a 10"x 10" min. Fire hole in hood.
Batteries: Must be in metal box or tray an bolted in 4 places, Bolts no smaller then 3/8" on passenger floor and covered.
Old iron, 80's and Trucks 2 batteries, Mini class and Midsize 1 battery.
Gas tanks: Stock gas tank must be removed from car and replaced with a steel tank, and bolted through the floor pan in center of back seat in four places, bolts no smaller the 3/8" and tank must be covered. 6 gallons max. Pump gas only, No Alcohol..
Fuel pumps: No electric fuels pumps, unless they came from factory with one. If you have one, you must run a separate on off switch, and it must be clearly marked, which position is off, and mounted close to the driver.
Brakes: All vehicles running in the derby must have brakes, this will be checked in inspection.
Air Bags: All air bags must be deactivated. (preferably removed)
No chain binders on any vehicle. No Wheel weights. No trailer hitches.
Old Iron, 80's and Trucks Rules
Cages: You may use channel or tubing up to 6" for door bars. Total length not to exceed 60". This bar may not be more than 18" past center on 4 door cars and 10" behind on 2 door cars. No exceptions. Dash and seat bar may no exceed 5" diameter. Seat bar must be no further than 6" behind seat. All bars must be straight, no contoured pieces. Only sedans are allowed a gas tank protector, 24"x 6", centered in back seat area. there must be a 1" space between back bar and sheet metal. may not be attached to any other than seat bar. All interior metal must remain stock. Do not pound. You may add a diagonal bar behind drivers seat and directly below seat bar to passenger floor sheet metal. you may add 2 vertical down bars to driver side door bar and 1 passenger door bar, may be welded to bottom of door bars and to floor sheet metal. These may not attach to or conceal a body mount. No kickers, kickers to box floor, angled or other bars off main cage components to frame. All horizontal cage components must be 8" off the floor of the car or truck, including gas tank protector, measured at body bolt elevation. All bars must be inside the car. Trucks may have a gas tank protector if tank is in box, bolted to box floor only, not to frame, must be 12" from box sides.
Halo and Rollover bars: You may add a halo bar to your cage components listed above. It may not exceed 5" diameter. On 4-door post car, this bar must be attached to the seat bar. No exceptions. On a 2-door or 4-door non post car, this bar may attach to floor sheet metal. Halo bar must be vertical line with seat bar. Halo bar may not be angled toward back of car, must be vertical. You may bolt halo bar to roof sheet metal in 2 places.
Frames: No seam welding allowed, no plating, stuffing, heat treating or foam filled frames. Y- frames may weld a plate 3"x 6"x 1/4" to top side of frame only to cover hole. Rear frame rails may not be shortened. You may notch rear frame rails but do not re-weld cut. No tilting or altering crush box. If frame is bent badly you may plate on one side with a 3"x 3"x 3/8" plate, if rusted call.
Body Bolts & Mounts: Old iron may take mounts out and bolt solid to frame. 80's cars must have body mounts, 3/4" min. 2" max. Trucks may make cab mounts solid. Bolts no bigger than 1", and no longer than 8", plates no bigger than 4"x 1/4", You may change the rubbers mounts but must be same size. No welding mounts to frame or body.
Bodies: No seam welding. No pre-bending any body panels, this means pre-demoed cars too and no foam filled panels. Speaker deck must be in stock location. Box sides must be straight up and down.
Doors may be welded solid on outside only except drivers door may be welded on inside, you may use 3"x 1/4" flat strap or 3/8" re-bar. If not welded must be chain or wired in 2 places per seam. Drivers door may be folded and welded at top.
Trunks may be tucked 50%, and have hinges. May have 4 hold downs, 1" threaded rod may be welded to side of frame, go through the frame or welded to the top, no adding plate first. Trunk plates 6"x 1/4", no plate directly under the trunk lid. All threaded rod must be straight up and down. You may use 6" angles with 1-3/8" bolt or 3/8" chain, or any combination of 4. No welding of trunk.
Hoods must be in stock location, front lip may be bent down. May have 6 hold downs, 1" threaded rod, front 2 may go through radiator support and frame mounts, not welded to support, other 4 may be welded to sides of frame, go through the frame or welded to top of frame, no adding plate first. Hood plates no bigger than 6"x 1/4", no plates directly under the hood, all threaded rod must be straight up and down, may be next to fire wall but not welded or bolted to it. You may use 6" angles and 1-3/8" bolt or 3/8" chain, or any combination of 6. May have 4-3/8" bolts around header holes and fire hole, if holes are cut out. Hood holes may be rolled or bent over but not welded, bolted or wired.
Fenders and quarters may be cut for tire clearance, may bolt inner fenders to outer fenders with 6-3/8" bolts, no higher than 5" from original wheel opening, threads must point in (no exceptions).
Wagon tailgates must be in stock location, may use 4-3/8" chains 2 per side, may not touch from top to bottom.
Truck tailgates may slide down 2" from factory, may be welded on outside only, with 3"x 1/4" flat strap or 3/8" re-bar, if not welded must have 4-3/8" chain 2 per side and may not touch top to bottom.
Windshield bars may have 2, 18" apart at bottom, bars may not connect. May have 1 rear window bar in center of opening. Material no bigger than 2"x 1/4" square or round tubing, bolted or welded inside window track. May have drivers door window netting only.
Truck cab and boxes may be welded or bolted together.
Boxes may have 6 extra hold downs, beside factory mounts, u-bolts or 3/8" chain. No metal in boxes.
Bumpers: Old iron and 80's any bumper any car, Trucks must run stock bumpers. May weld mounts to frame, shocks to bumper, may drain and push shocks in and weld. No adding metal. May have 2 extra 3/8" chain, 1 loop per side. Rear bumpers may be changed, but must have a rear bumper. No open frame rails. End may be cut off or bent in but not welded or have sharp edges. No seam welding on bumpers. No loaded bumpers. No over lapping bumpers. Trucks may have 2 plates 5"x 14"x 1/4" flat strap welded from tailgate to bumper.
Bumper heights: Old iron & 80's 28" to top. Trucks 30" to top.
Motors and Transmissions: Any motor any car in stock location, no sliding motor back, may have solid motor mounts, welded or chained to engine cross-member on frame only, not to frame rails. No engine cradles. May brace from front of heads to frame rail using 1"x 1/2" flat strap or 3/8" chain, no angling forwards or backwards. any part of motor may be modified. No protectors any place on motor or transmission, may cut firewall. Must have an air cleaner. No skid plates. No engine oil coolers.
Automotive type transmissions: transmission coolers allowed but must be secured in a container in passenger side of car. Metal or braided lines must be used. No fuel line may be used.
Radiator and Support: Stock type radiator in stock position, may use seat belts, ratchet strap or wire to hold in place. No metal strap or metal plates in front or behind radiator, ac condensers only in front of radiator. May use expanding foam on bottom of radiator only, no adding metal. Water or non-toxic antifreeze only.
No welding seams on support or threaded rod welded to support. May have in 2 places 4 wraps of #9 wire from top of support to top of bumper.
Rear-ends: Old iron & 80's cars may have any 5 lug rear-ends. Trucks 8 lug rear-ends. No bracing allowed on rear-end housing. May have posse. No floaters in cars. May use slider drive shaft.
Suspension: Must be stock OEM parts for make and model of car or truck. No coil to leaf conversions. Leaf springs must be in factory position. 2 leaf spring clamps per side, 2" wide max, no chains from leaf springs to body or frame. Trucks may reinforce tie-rods, but must use stock OEM ends. You may have 2-3/8" chains from rear-ends to body. You may lengthen or shorten your trailing arms, with same size material, no solid arms. You may change coil springs, rear coil springs may be welded or wired in, spring spacers allowed. No solid shocks. 2 wheel drive trucks may use 1 bolt or 1-3/8" chain welded in center of upper a-arms to spring bucket only, not to frame rails.
80's cars must run stock front suspensions.
Steering wheel to gear box may be modified.
Tires & wheels: No fluid-filled, cement, solid or studded tires. You are allowed double stuffed, foam filled or skid-loader tires. 30" tall tires max. for cars only, Trucks up to 16.5 or smaller tires. You may run valve stem protectors. No solid steel wheels. Split rims must be welded. No wheel weights.
Mini Class & Midsize Rules
Midsize 108" or less may be rear wheel drive. 4x4 allowed must take front or rear drive shaft out and follow all rules.
Mini class 4x4's, ext cabs and Dakotas are allowed, 4x4's must take out front or rear drive shaft.
Seat bar and Door plates: Must have a seat bar, 5" diameter square tube or round pipe, no further then 6" behind drivers seat, must be 8" off floor at body mount level. Must be welded or bolted in place. Door plate optional, must be 1/4" or thicker material, no wider than 15", no further than 6" past drivers door seams. Must be bolted in at least 6 places, bolt no smaller than 5/8", threads must be cut flush. No halo bars. Mini class dash bar optional.
Sub- frames: No seam welding, stuffing, plating or foam filling. Stock body mounts only.
Bodies: No seam welding, pre-bending, tucking, adding bolts, wire, duct tapping or cutting any body panel. Doors, sliding doors or barn doors may have 2-3/8" chains per seam, drivers door may be welded inside and out, with 3"x 1/4" flat strap or 3/8" re-bar. Hoods must be in stock location with hinges. May have 4-3/8" chains, front 2 may go around bumper, chains may not connect from side to side or front to back. Trunks, tailgates and hatches may have 2-3/8" chains, may go around rear bumper, but may not connect. Mini truck boxes may have 4 extra hold downs beside factory mounts, single loops of 3/8" chain from box to frame, no plates. Box and cab may be bolted together using 2-1" bolts and 6"x 1/4" plates.
Bumpers: Must be stock for year and make of vehicle, bumpers may be chained on using 1-3/8" chain, single loop per side. If no rear bumper must take rear bumper shocks off. Plastic and fiberglass bumper's maybe changed, but must be from same size car. Stock bumper height. No seam welding, cutting or bending ends.
Motor and Transmissions: Stock for year and make of vehicle, no motor swapping, no modifications or aftermarket parts. May have 1-3/8" chain per motor mount. May have screen or air tube, carburators must have air cleaner. Stock transmissions coolers only, in stock location, may loop lines. Dog houses must be in place, but may modify.
Rear-ends: Stock OEM rear-ends, no bracing, may weld posse.
Suspension: Stock OEM parts, no modifications or reinforcing any parts, stock shocks, no spacers and no bolting a-arms.
Tires & Wheels: 4 ply tires, may use tubes. snow tires are okay. No skid-loader tires. No solid steel wheels. No wheel weights.
